Many aikido techniques carry a significant principle as well as a physical application. The key to developing your technique is understanding the purpose of the movement. Irrimi is the principle of entering beyond your opponent's attack, a physical movement and spiritiual committment of fudoshin, "Imperturbable sprirt." Irrimi is a movement to enter directly into technique, physically moving just off of the line of attack and into the path of uke, seizing the technique.
